Meet 'Melt', the latest single of Leipzig-based art pop project MAW. 'Melt’ meditates on the tension between symbiosis and separateness in intimate relationships - the lyrics were written during the first lockdown in 2020, when this topic became particularly present and more complex for many of us. Musically, the track wanders from 1980s synths and vocal harmonies to a finale of millennial trailer music. A Jonny Greenwood-inspired string section hovers above the softly ambient synth, the aggressive post-punk guitar riffs and the industrial beats, evoking a spectral yet tangible atmosphere of suspense.
